What it is: A Catholic festival that has become a unique Peruvian tradition. On this day, 15 figures of saints from each church in Cusco are paraded in a festive procession to the main square, where they “meet” with the figure of Jesus.
When: It takes place in May or June, nine weeks after Easter. In 2026, it will be on June 4th.
Where: In the squares and churches of Cusco.
Why to visit: To witness the deep fusion of the Catholic religion with local Andean beliefs. It is a visually impressive experience of colorful religious processions and traditional music.
